Generate the plan

Open Cost and plan and press Generate from the design. The work breakdown is built from the mission, the satellites, the ground stations, the frequency filings and the phases, following ECSS-M-ST-10C and ECSS-M-ST-60C.

Switch the currency

The buttons EUR, USD and FCFA at the top of the plan change the currency of every amount you read, in the plan and in the report. The choice is yours and is kept in your browser, so a teammate can read the same plan in another currency. The amounts are converted with the exchange rates in the assumptions.

Read the overview

Overview shows what the mission costs: the priced lines, the margin, insurance and VAT, the total, the cost by phase and by kind of cost, and the cost of one satellite. A line without a price is counted and listed, so the total is never a guess.

Work breakdown and costs

Each line has a quantity, a unit cost with its source and the phase it belongs to. Lines made from the design are marked Auto. You can change any line or Add a line of your own. Generating again rebuilds the Auto lines, so change a rate or an assumption to change them for good.

Schedule and team

Set the months of each phase and the people working on it, in full time equivalents. The schedule shows the phases and reviews, and the person months feed the labour lines.

Market rates

Every rate is a published figure with its source and the day it was read: launch, testing, ground stations, ITU filings, insurance, VAT and salaries. Where no figure was found there is no rate. Change a value to use your own, or Add a rate with its quote.

Assumptions

Set the starting currency, the exchange rates, the margin, VAT, insurance, the launch and testing rates, the salary overhead and how many satellites are replaced each year. Save the assumptions, then generate again.
