Concurrent Engineering Design: start a study

One place to go from a problem, to a mission, to the satellite or satellites that carry it out. Start from a blank study or copy a demo.

  1. Open the tab

Open Concurrent Engineering Design in the sidebar. It lists your studies and the studies you were invited to. Older mission designs are still there: press Convert to a study to bring one in.

This page needs a free account.

    Open the page
  2. Copy a demo to learn

Under Demo studies, copy one to your account. Each demo is complete, from the problem to the satellite design, the cost and the report, and you can change anything in it. Mission 237 is the flagship: a constellation of PocketCubes that relays LoRa data from ground sensors to TinyGS stations.

  3. Or start a blank study

Give the study a title and one line about it, then press Start the study. You become the owner and the systems engineer.

  4. Follow the three parts

The tabs at the top are the flow: 1. Problem, 2. Mission, 3. Satellites, then Cost and plan, Report and Team. Nothing is locked. You can open any part at any time, and the advice shown never blocks you.

  5. See what the others changed

The list of Latest changes shows who did what. The study refreshes by itself every few seconds, so a team in the same room, or online, sees each other’s work.

Good to know
  • If someone else saved the same section first, a message tells you and shows their version. Your own text is kept until you choose.
  • Archive a finished study to keep it readable but locked. Reopen it to work on it again.
